The Admiralty is pleased to report a highly successful Operation Beer Festival in joint operation with the BUZZ dragon boat team and AIA South Side Massive Urban Gorillaz (SMUGs). The joint search & yodel exercises have been well attended by about 10 BUZZ paddlers, 20 Navy personnel and over 40 Gorillaz.

Operation Beer Festival is turning into an annual off-season urban survival mission, whereby crew members are tested in such vital skills as blowing the alphorn, yodeling, cow milking and the perennial favorite – drowning in beer.

With three rival teams attending, competition was fierce for the different exercises of the mission. SOF James was up first to compete in the cow milking contest where he skillfully advanced to the semi finals. He was eventually beaten by SMUGs commander-in-chief, Simeon, due to a defective udder.

Sailor Mits opened the yodeling competition with a hearty rendition of OLIOLIOLIOLIOLIO which together with the Admiral’s rap yodel scored an impressive three light bulbs on the yodel-o-meter. Both were eventually beaten to first place by a professional German yodelmeister.

Sailor LiechtenSteve celebrated his first anniversary with the Navy by offering an entire bottle of Yodelmeister, I mean Jaegermeister, to the band, which ensured that they stayed well oiled for the rest of the night and providing at least eight rounds of the chicken dance.

The Navy gifted the drinking boat competition victory to the SMUGs because Able Seaman Frauenfelder put the gimp mask on the wrong way round. He poured the beer in his ear instead!

Sailor Joerg was censured for doing “an Olivier” by swapping his pristine Navy uniform for a tight red enemy outfit.

The party eventually located to Wanchai where additional shirt swapping and beer guzzling took place.

The Operation was declared an all-out success.
